The Greater Loop - A 10,500 km solo kayak expedition

The Great Loop is a system of waterways that encompasses the eastern portion of the United States and part of Canada. It is made up of both natural and man-made waterways, including the Atlantic and Gulf Intracoastal Waterways, the Great Lakes, the Erie Canal, and the Mississippi and Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. The entire loop stretches about 6,000 miles (9,700 km).

The journey started in Halifax in the spring of 2022 and lasted more than a year. The entire adventure was tracked on LocaToWeb.

The tour is called Reverse the Bad and did combine an adventure with nature, people and cultures. Over 268 days of paddling, logging over 1 643 hours on the water, the paddler completed nearly 6 800 miles (about 10 900 km) by August 2023, returning to Halifax and finishing the full circumnavigation of Eastern Canada and the U.S. waterways.
